Welcome to the site!
On June 27, 2004, Ken lost his father to complications from a heart attack he had suffered two weeks earlier. His father had been extremely active in the community and was one of Excelsior Springs' most cherished citizens.
It has been Ken's dream to see the main highway* leading into Excelsior Springs – which runs past his father's former workplace and his mother's current home – receive a Memorial Highway designation in his father's honor.
Let's help him make that happen.
Dan M. Wilson was very active in his community. He was constantly devoted to helping others. As Ken puts it:
"Throughout his life he constantly served or was volunteering his time for his country or his community. During the Korean War he served in the United States Navy. For the better part of three decades he devoted himself to the City of Excelsior Springs. He was instrumental in getting a hospital built there so that patients would not have to drive to another city for proper medical care – an endeavor that won him Citizen of the Year in 1976. He served as the City Clerk, was elected to numerous terms as City Councilman and even served as Mayor. He chaired the Clay County Democratic Committee. He was active in the Optimist Club, serving as its president. The list goes on and on."
We have the paperwork and required signatures in place, but we need to raise the money to cover the cost of the highway signs before the legislation can be introduced. Please help out in any way you can by clicking the button to the right to make a donation.
Ken will never forget the gift you have given to him and his father's legacy.
